Exhibitions for 2008

18th March to 2nd November 2008

Lester the Legend

Lester Piggott is an icon within horseracing, regarded as the greatest flat jockey of them all. His achievements are recognised worldwide with 4,493 winners on the Flat in Great Britain and countless others around the world in a riding career which lasted from 1948 to 1994. The exhibition features his life from his early riding days and his first win as a twelve-year-old, to being the youngest ever winner of the Derby and a legacy that includes thirty Classics in England. Lester has kindly lent a considerable number of personal items for what will be a very unique exhibition that includes rarely seen images and memorabilia.

Racing Colours

The full spectrum of colours is an integral part of the world of horseracing represented by everything from bright racing silks, high fashion, greys to bays, changing seasons and the character of different racecourses. This exhibition will show the contemporary artistic side of racing along side some superb photography and striking paintings.
