The skeleton of the great racehorse and sire Hyperion comes to Newmarket.
The Animal Health Trust in Kentford has kindly lent Hyperion's skeleton to the Museum. It has gone on display in the Thoroughbred gallery.

Hyperion (1930-1960) was the most succesful British-bred sire of the twentieth century. Bred and owned by Lord Derby and trained for two of his three seasons by George Lambton, the small (15.1 hands) son of Gainsborough won nine of his thirteen races. He proved himself the greatest champion of the first half of the century by his stunning victories in the Derby and St Leger of 1933. At stud he was champion sire six times between 1940 and 1954.
