On Tuesday 17th February, from 10.30am – 2.30pm, welcome in the Chinese New Year at the Museum, and celebrate the Year of The Horse.  In collaboration with the Cambridge Chinese Community Centre, this fun and immersive half-term event is perfect for the whole family.

Events are included within the general admission ticket, and includes traditional Chinese cultural activities, street food and performances. Visitors can expect a colourful array of costumes, dance and sound, reflecting the Horse’s symbolism of vitality and progress.

There are plenty of immersive activities ranging from Chinese New Year storytelling to a children’s craft corner, a dress-up photo booth, painting and face painting with traditional motifs, paper cutting and rubbing, lantern-making, a traditional Chinese instruments workshop, a Tai Chi demonstration, fan dance workshop, and a Chinese knot tying workshop.

Traditional Chinese snacks will be available to purchase including baozi, dumplings, candy floss, and noodles.

Performances will take place between 1 – 2.30pm and include Dragon Poi, Tai Chi, Kungfu, Fan Dance, Singing and Chinese Music.
