‘Birdie’ is an artist and cartoonist, who has quickly established himself at the heart of racing through his brilliant, timely and clever cartoons on all aspects of horse racing. Initially using social media as an outlet for his talent, he very quickly progressed to appearing on TV drawing live on Sky Sports Racing, ITV Racing and Racing UK.
Having not come from a racing background his work was initially inspired from purely watching the sport on TV. His personal journey has now seen his artwork taken to a world wide audience with various drawings used to promote the sport in Australia, the USA and all across the UK and Europe.
More recently Birdie has begun his own drawing sessions to help share his joy and love of horses and the sport of horseracing. The sessions started as part of the Racing to Schools project supported by Godolphin and have grown from there. He’s now worked with a range of groups of children and adults including Autism in Racing.
His ambition behind these sessions is simply to share his joy of creating the art inspired by racing and to also help and encourage others to get over the stigma of the fear of a plain piece of paper.
