Behind the Scenes Tour and Talk of John Reardon’s ICON’s Exhibition

Enjoy a one-off, guided tour of ICONS: The Photography of John Reardon, led by exhibition curator and wife of the late Reardon, Sacha Lehrfreund, on Saturday 19 October 2024, at the Museum. The special viewing starts from 2pm, lasting approximately 45 minutes, and is included with the price of museum admission.

Discover the inside scoop on how and why – despite eschewing post-production – famous chefs and horses rarely look better than in their Reardon portrait. Sacha was present at many of Reardon’s photoshoots and can impart the fascinating backstory to the iconic photographs on display, with rare insight into his creative genius.

Discover first-hand how Reardon was inspired by Stubbs’ painting of Whistlejacket, whose uninterrupted gaze without a background led him to focus on abstract elements of the horse, turning the line of neck, withers, back and quarters into lush landscapes.

The amazing exhibition will be finishing on Sunday 27th October, so this is definitely a tour you won’t want to miss.
