Equine Drawing Masterclass with Nichola Eddery – Learning from the Great John Wootton

Join renowned equine artist, Nichola Eddery, for a special one-day equine drawing masterclass held in the beautiful new Wootton Room, drawing directly from the remarkable paintings of the celebrated 18th-century sporting artist, John Wootton.

This immersive workshop offers a step-by-step introduction to Nichola’s classical approach to drawing the horse, with a focus on understanding proportion, structure, and the foundations of equine anatomy. Students will also explore how light interacts with form to create depth and realism within their drawings.

Drawing upon traditional atelier principles and Nichola’s lifelong experience with horses, the class is designed to help students develop both observation and technical understanding in a supportive and inspiring environment.

Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced artist looking to strengthen your foundations, this masterclass provides a rare opportunity to study the horse through a structured classical approach within one of the UK’s leading museums dedicated to horse racing and sporting art.
