Intermediate Pastels Masterclass en plein-air with Anne Ward

Join equine artist Anne Ward for a morning workshop using pastels en plein-air. Suitable for intermediate and more experienced artists, you will enjoy creating images outdoors in pastels inspired by the incredible Thoroughbreds in our Retraining of Racehorses paddocks and paintings by George Stubbs ARA (1724-1806).

Anne Ward is an established, commissioned artist, who specialises in portraits of horses and dogs and uses the medium of pastel for the majority of her work. From September 2022 to February 2023, Anne held an exhibition at the National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket, entitled ”The Racehorse: Past and Future”, featuring portraits of ten much-loved retired racehorses and ten studies of Thoroughbred foals. Anne’s clients include leading racehorse owners, breeders and trainers.

This workshop will enable you to learn under the tutelage of an experienced equine artist to develop your creative practice and master the use of pastels.

Participants are welcome to bring their own sketchbooks and pencils. There will be a short break for refreshments. Materials provided.

This workshop is part of a series of events to commemorate the 300th Anniversary of the birth of George Stubbs this year.
