‘Little Horseshoes’ Pre-School Creative Play Sessions

We are pleased to announce the continuation of our free ‘Little Horseshoes’ creative play sessions at the National Horseracing Museum for pre-school children.

Usually running during term times on the second Friday of the month but starting off on 19^th September, these sessions are designed for pre-school children aged between 18 months – 4 years old.

Forthcoming dates are: 19th September, 10th October, 7th November, 12th December 2025, 9th January, 13th February, 13th March, 15th May, 12th June, 10th July 2026.

Join us for these free, creative play sessions, designed to educate and entertain! You can have fun exploring the galleries together, discovering objects, listening to stories and rhymes inspired by our collections and make and create something to take home.

Places are free for pre-school children but limited to 15 children per session.

Please note: There is one session on the day at 11am. Please specify the date and session when booking. If your preferred session is booked, we can add you to the waiting list for cancellations, just let us know via email whether you would like to be added to this.

Please note:

• Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the session
• Please arrive 5 minutes before the start of the session
• Advance booking is essential
• If bookings exceed available spaces, we will endeavour to run additional sessions on the same dates – we will advise on email once you have registered your interest

Join us for a festive themed explore and make and create session

9.01.2026 –  Look! Look! What can you see?

Explore the galleries looking at portraits – how many eyes, ears, mouths can you find? Use mirrors to make different facial expressions. Be creative with collage materials, and pictures of eyes, ears, mouths to make funny faces.

13.02.2026 –  Valentines

Join us and meet the cuddly Orson the Horse who will help us explore the galleries to collect the hearts, get creative with our Valentines crafts and enjoy a story.

13.03.2026 – Food Glorious Food!

Have fun learning about what horses like to eat. Get creative printing with fruit and vegetables and enjoy a story
