QIPCO British Champions Series Hall of Fame

We are proud to host the QIPCO British Champions Series Hall of Fame, which launched in 2021 and immortalises the equine and human champions of British Flat Racing.

The Hall of Fame focuses on Horseracing’s modern greats, taking in Hall of Famers from 1970 onwards. The Hall of Fame celebrates what these individuals have contributed to the sport and their induction is recognition of remarkable exploits on a consistent basis at the pinnacle of the sport. This is the highest accolade within horseracing.

In 2021, the Hall of Fame opened its doors to the first nine Hall of Famers. Frankel and Lester Piggott, two of racing’s greatest performers, were the inaugural inductees into the Class of 2021. Mill Reef, Brigadier Gerard, Nijinsky, Dayjur, Pat Eddery, Vincent O’Brien and, most notably, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II followed later in the year.

Her Majesty became the first inductee into the Special Contributor category, celebrating a lifetime commitment to horseracing. This is being marked at the 2022 Derby at Epson Downs, in this her Platinum Jubilee year.

The National Horseracing Museum is proud to host the Hall of Fame. The exhibition, seen in the Atrium, features a beautiful piece of wall art detailing all of the current Hall of Famers. This includes Dancing Brave and Frankie Dettori, the latest two inductees in April 2022. The current exhibition is live until the end of 2022.

There are also some fantastic exhibits in our display cabinets:

  • Frankie Dettori’s racecard from his “Magnificent Seven” at Ascot in 1996
  • Dancing Brave’s 1986 2000 Guineas trophy
  • Imagery of Frankel and Lester Piggott’s 2021 inductions
  • Image of Her Majesty the Queen at Ascot receiving her Hall of Fame medal

Hall of Famers will be inducted throughout 2022 and there will be an extension of the display in 2023.
