Now in its second year, the museum hosted the Awards for Young Writers on Horseracing on Friday 25 April 2025. It was a tough competition again and there were some phenomenal articles. Entries were judged by a range of specialists from the media, horseracing industry and the Wilmington Trust, including Josie Reed from Wilmington Trust, David Milnes from the Racing Post, Oli Bell and Rishi Persad from ITV Racing and Editor, Alison Hayes, of the Newmarket Journal. The judging panel were looking for winning entries that showed journalistic skill, original content and exciting stories on horseracing subjects or current or past races in two categories, Under 16s and 16-25 years, with Prize money of £250 and £500 respectively.

Under 16s Lottie Corbett with her article ‘Nobody knows for sure’ – winning essay can be found here.

A highlight of the evening was a very special message for finalists was sent by Oli Bell, ITV Racing encouraging the young writers to continue and congratulating them on their brilliant articles.
