Welcome to NHRM

The National Horseracing Museum is a 5-acre site in the heart of Newmarket. It comprises three complementary attractions; National Horseracing Museum in the Trainer’s House and King’s Yard Galleries, the Packard Galleries of British Sporting Art in Palace House, and a chance to meet former racehorses in the flagship home of Retraining of Racehorses.

We have a fabulous restaurant and gift shop on-site and visits can take from 3 hours to a full day, and sometimes even more…! However, don’t worry if you can’t fit it all in in one day – upgrade your ticket to an annual pass for FREE when you get here – so you can return as many times as you like for 12 months after purchase.

Please note: The museum is not open on Mondays.

In November 2021 we were delighted to be awarded a Gold Accolade By VisitEngland. 76 attractions around England were recognised as a result of the exceptional experiences they provide visitors from Welcome Accolade, Hidden Gem, Best Told Story, Quality Food and Drink and the Gold Accolade for all-round top-scoring attractions.

We are committed to doing everything we can to protect each other as we ease out of COVID restrictions and our primary concern remains the safety and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers and visitors. We continue to have COVID secure guidelines in place whilst acknowledging the change from legislation to personal responsibility.  We know that people are looking forward to this relaxation but appreciate there is nervousness amongst some audiences, particularly those with access requirements or those who feel more vulnerable.  We aim to create the best and safest environment for all and encourage the wearing of face coverings in crowded, indoor areas where it is difficult to socially distance from others, as well as track and trace, plus a number of protocols that protect our staff and all our visitors when on site.
